White House Releases AI National Policy Framework

The White House has released a National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy Framework outlining its key priorities for federal oversight of AI technologies. The Administration seeks Congressional action to codify the framework into law, arguing that adoption of its proposed “federal rulebook” would address concerns such as political bias in AI systems while lowering barriers to innovation, emphasizing education and an “AI-ready workforce,” and strengthening online protections for children and teenagers. The framework also calls on Congress to preempt state-level AI laws that the administration views as imposing “undue burdens” on development, and to prioritize the adoption of a single federal standard that is “minimally burdensome.”
